The Wall Street Journal wrote an article early last week on EBay’s holiday season. John Donahoe says there is no one “must-have” item out of stock everywhere, except for the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters. These furry friends are doing “brisk business” on EBay.

There were recently some false accusations against the Zhu Zhu Pets hamster toy Mr. Squiggles. There was concern that Mr. Squiggles had too much of the chemical Antimony. Rest assured that these hamsters have been thoroughly tested and declared “safe” by both US and European standards. Cepia LLC offered this official response.

According to Lutz Miller’s article, Zhu Zhu Pets are in competition with 4 major virtual playground toys. Lutz shares some interesting charts on the comparison of 5 major brands of toys, in regards to Google searches and Consumer Profile.
Zhu Zhu Pets have an edge on the market due to their low price, great advertising and independence from an internet world, creating a “runaway success” in both the States and the UK.

According to an article by ConsumerAffairs.com, Cepia LLC is ramping up their production of Zhu Zhu Pets in China. Natalie Hornsby, the director of Marketing and Brand Development for Cepia states, “We originally worked with one major factory. We are now working with four factories”. This news should come as a relief for many parents waiting to buy the popular toy.
